Measure H

At a special meeting of the Camino Union School District held on February 23, 2016, the Board of Trustees voted unanimously in support to go out to bond on the June 7th ballot.  This is the first time that the District has gone out to bond.  Superintendent-Principal Smith said there was no opposition to the bond measure at either the board meeting or the open house held in February.  If Measure H passes, the funds will be used for health & safety needs at the school.

All members of the Camino School community will experience an educational environment dedicated to developing independent, lifelong learners who are prepared to participate creatively and independently in shaping the future..

The Camino Union School District joins with the community to provide a high quality standards-based education for all students, preparing them academically, socially and emotionally for success in high school and as productive citizens in our diverse society.

Community Members Recognized

At an awards ceremony on April 4, the El Dorado County School Boards Association (EDCSBA) recognized the outstanding contributions made by members who serve on county and district education boards. County Superintendent of Schools Ed Manansala, Ed.D. thanked all attendees for their contributions and remarked, "We are living in a time of pivotal change in education, and it's humbling to see the bold leadership and promise in this room."

During the event, school districts county-wide programs were highlighted in a presentation designed by Larry Green, President of EDCSBA. He recognized the efforts of the awardees, teachers, administrators, staff, parents and community members towards educating El Dorado County children. “These deserving members of our community truly care about the schools in El Dorado County. Thousands of children have benefited from their contributions towards educating our students. We can be proud of the educational opportunities available in our county.”

Awards were presented in five different categories:

Outstanding Community Member/Organization: The Van Gilder family (Camino Union School District); Gordon Vicini (Placerville Union School District); Tooraj and Adorea Agahi (Pollock Pines Elementary School District); Patty Eddie Zacapa (Rescue Union School District) were acknowledged for their contributions of time, financial support and assistance in delivering educational services. New Immunization Requirements for 2016

Under a new law known as SB 277, beginning January 1, 2016 exemptions based on personal beliefs, including religious beliefs, are no longer an option for the vaccines that are currently required for entry into child care or school in California. Most families will not be affected by the new law because their children have received all required vaccinations. Personal beliefs exemptions on file for a child already attending child care or school will remain valid until the child reaches the next immunization checkpoint at kindergarten (including transitional kindergarten) or 7th grade.
